Guilty

I do not approve of religious bias- especially between Hindus and Muslims. I feel angered at the insensitiveness and insanity of Hindus who refuse to rent out homes to Muslims. I feel apologetic when I see movies like A Wednesday and Shoot On Sight, that bring out these religious differences in the open. But tomorrow, if a riot breaks out, will I have the courage to support the other party? I don't know. Easier said, than done. Why is it that being so "secular" in my mind, I feel a tiny prick of uncertainty and fear, when I enter a Muslim populated area? I don't despise them, I treat them as my own, but then, why am I guilty of committing this sin?

This is one thing that truly is easier said than done!No matter how we may feel but the divide is soo deep now that there is always that bit of uncertainty that remains... Sad But True...

I am not biased. Have friends of almost all the major religions and have even come across people who converted by their own volition. Off late though, I wonder if they are vulnerable as portrayed. This article is one of the many that brought my current attitude. I am all for secularism if it is followed by followers of the other religions too. Live and let live! I feel like saying Ram!Ram! as a greeting now to everyone I see instead of hello! hi! or namaste! Well, I am proud to be hindu! :D

Face the reality. This is not a secular world that we live in. Every religion has followers and fanatics. Often it so happens that action of a few bring condemnation on an entire clan and this is what we see happening today across the world.

You are right to fear when you enter certain areas and the fear is not unjustified or unfounded.

BTW you have been blogrolled!

--> thinking soul: Hmmm, wonder if we can ever fill the crevice.

--> myheadtrip: Wow that sure was an eye-opener. I knw the Hindu religion is the most "flexible" of all others... we really accomodate all that we can. And yes, we can only hope that others implement similar addendums. Religion was made to bring together...not divide.

--> John: Hmm... Kalyug! And thnx fr blogrolling me. Abt time! ;)

not sure if you know this but Hinduism was never a religion, it was a culture. What started of as a religion "based" on Hinduism was Arya Samaj. Over the years people ended up confusing the two and of course Ramanand Sagar and BR Chopra didn't really help ;)
